Australia's personal accident and health (A&H) insurance sector is poised for steady growth, with projections indicating an annual increase of over 4% through to 2030.
This positive outlook is attributed to factors such as digital distribution, embedded coverage options, and heightened health concerns among the population.

According to research by GlobalData, the A&H segment is expected to achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.6%, rising from $35.7 billion in direct written premiums in 2026 to $42.8 billion by 2030. This growth trajectory is underpinned by rising health costs, including higher out-of-pocket expenses, which are prompting greater uptake of health insurance products.

Senior insurance analyst Swarup Kumar Sahoo highlighted that, despite a softening rate cycle in the broader insurance market, health premiums have been on the rise. This indicates a complex operating environment where affordability pressures coexist with robust demand for health coverage.

For beauticians and small business owners in the beauty industry, this trend underscores the importance of considering personal accident and health insurance as part of a comprehensive risk management strategy. The increasing availability of digital distribution channels and innovative coverage options may offer more accessible and tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of professionals in the beauty sector.
